Atlanta Mettle Tested in Tight 6-5 Win
The Atlanta Generals overcame a good performance by New York third baseman Rick Lintner to knock off New York, 6-5, at Atlantic Station Field. Lintner was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Atlanta reliever Paul Hodges picked up the win to move to 1-5. Dave Kretz suffered the loss. Atlanta is now 74-84, New York 83-75.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Atlanta first baseman Zach Hodge, facing Dave Kretz, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Generals the 6-5 win.

"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said Hodge.
