Kansas City Bats Cold in 8-0 Loss
|
Cincinnati turned a good effort from starter Fernando Lopez into a win over the Kansas City Bulls at Roman Arena. The Packers won the game, 8-0. Lopez, the winner, moves to 12-11. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. Rick Attaway got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.
Frank Bohley had a big bases-clearing double for the Packers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from top prospect Waldo Hardaway and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Packers ahead, 4-0.
"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager DD Martin.
Cincinnati has 5 straight wins, Kansas City 3 straight losses.
