Schon Leads Industrials to 7-3 Win Over Quakers
|
The 7-3 Pittsburgh win over Philadelphia was due in large part to Garry Schon. The Industrials shortstop was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. The winning pitcher was Dennis Visco. He's now 18-7. He went 9 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Industrials. Pittsburgh leads the National Baseball League Eastern Division by 8 games.
With Pittsburgh trailing 1-0 in the top of the second, Schon hit a curveball from Arnold Jarry for a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Industrials ahead, 3-1.
Schon called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
