Pierce Too Tough, Blanks Montreal
|
Montreal were shut out, 6-0, by Jon Pierce and the New York Empires at LaSalle Stadium. The Habitants offered little resistance to Pierce, who stopped them on 4 hits, fanned 5 and walked 6.
"It just felt right today," the left-handed Pierce told reporters after the win. "Even with the rain, it didn't throw me off my rhythm."
This season, Pierce has compiled a 14-7 record with a 2.81 ERA.
