Hill Leads Charge, Montreal Blasts Empires
|
The Montreal Habitants and New York Empires completed their game despite the rain.
The Montreal Habitants soundly defeated the New York Empires, 14-3, at Queens Field, with first baseman Don Hill a major reason why. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice for Montreal. Montreal leads the American Baseball League Eastern Division by 2 games.
With Montreal leading 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Hill hit a changeup from Pete Ragsdale for a grand slam home run. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Habitants ahead, 7-2.
"We did the things that it takes to win a game," said Hill.
