The San Diego Captains defeated the Milwaukee Dairymen, 4-3, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. San Diego first baseman Freddie Boone had a superb performance. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ed Prater picked up the save, his 22nd. The victory gives San Diego a record of 85-75.
Boone had a timely hit for San Diego in the top of the ninth. With San Diego trailing 3-1, he turned a full count fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 4-3, San Diego.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Boone told a local reporter after the game.
