Blockbusters Get Close Win Over Captains, 4-3
San Diego got a terrific performance from pitcher Jeff Ferguson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Blockbusters. Los Angeles won the Blockbuster Stadium contest, 4-3. Ferguson threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Cardell Franklin, who is tied for 9th in the NBL in saves with 19, was the winner in relief. His record is now 12-7. The losing pitcher was Jack DeWitt. The 5th-place Blockbusters have won 4 in a row.

Los Angeles catcher Steve Oubre contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 49th hit of the season and put the Blockbusters ahead, 3-0.

Oubre called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
