Burros Beat Visiting Captains, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Denver Burros and the San Diego Captains, pitcher Dick Scorza was the difference between victory and defeat. The Denver left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Burros win. Albert Green claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 2-0. Denver is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 17 games.
Denver took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, John Crabtree hit a 2-run single to make it 2-0, Burros.
"Every loss hurts," said San Diego manager Joe Mack. "But this was a tough one."
