The Houston Drillers picked up a win at Sam Houston Field, dropping the Dallas Wranglers, 3-1. Rick McStay was the difference-maker. The first-place Drillers have won 4 consecutive games.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the sixth inning, but McStay was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Dallas trailing 2-0, McStay retired Marv Haynes, who popped out.
