Empires Earn Win with Late Rally
New York right fielder Paul Brower played a vital role in his team's 3-2 conquest of Toronto. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for New York. Andy Humphrey, who is tied for 3rd in the ABL in saves with 18, was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-6. The losing pitcher was Al West. With the victory, the Empires upped their record to 84-76.

Dave Helms came through with a big-time hit for New York. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Helms.
