Led by Marvin Walker, the Montreal Habitants defeated the Toronto Hurons, 3-2. Walker went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Habitants. The winner was Manny Esparza, who threw 83 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. Al Johns got the save, his 23rd in 27 chances.

Montreal took a 3-1 lead on Walker's 10th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Alfonso Sosa in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Montreal to the win.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.

The triumph puts Montreal at 84-76 for the season.
