Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Captains
Don Hughes was instrumental in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Los Angeles Blockbusters. The third baseman was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles for the San Diego Captains. Gabe Magana got the save, his 1st in 1 chances. With the victory, the Captains upped their record to 88-73.

San Diego took the lead, 6-3, on Norm Lane's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Los Angeles pitcher Fred Wild in the bottom of the eighth.
