New York Beats Brooklyn, 4-2
|
Dave Teckenbrock pitched well, but his team, the Brooklyn Bluebirds, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the New York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium. Ollie Hundley notched his 21st save in 29 chances. New York goes to 80-81, Brooklyn to 86-75.
The Bluebirds had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Knickerbockers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old center fielder Bob Marston came to the plate. Marston hit a solo home run on a 1-2 sinker from Brooklyn hurler Dave Teckenbrock. It was Marston's 14th home run of the year.
In postgame remarks, Marston applauded his team's "business-like approach."
