Packers Squelch Eagles Offense in Shutout Win
The Cincinnati Packers went home winners at Roman Arena, thanks in large part to starter Rollie Rumler. Rumler stifled the Washington Eagles, enabling Cincinnati to grab the 3-0 win. Brian Williams, now 15-9, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. Cincinnati's record now stands at 75-86, placing them last in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when pinch hitter Glenn Palmer, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1965 draft, hit a double. The Packers went on to win.

"I just tried to stick to my strengths," said Rumler.
