Seagulls Rally Late to Clip Los Angeles
The Seagulls grabbed a win, 5-4, at San Vicente Park, overcoming a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Rick Beasley. Beasley went 7.2 innings and allowed 5 runs. San Francisco reliever Bill Fletcher picked up the win, raising his record to 3-6. Rick Beasley was tagged with the loss. Dan Wood earned the save for San Francisco, his 6th.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Charlie Reynolds was at the plate when San Francisco scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Seagulls to go in front, 5-3.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Reynolds said.

San Francisco goes to 92-69, Los Angeles to 82-79.
