Behind an impressive start by Dennis Visco, Pittsburgh beat New York, 2-0. The win belonged to John Lonergan in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jack Forbes took the loss for New York. The loss puts New York at 8-8.

Had Terry McClellan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, McClellan hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Industrials.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Industrials manager Vincent Wicker. "This one was nice to get."
