Pittsburgh pitcher Dennis Visco did his part in helping his team beat the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Bob Cole picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Damon Rutherford, who finished 5th in the NBL in ERA with 2.81 in 1957, was tagged with the loss. The Bluebirds drop to 5-11, as their fitful start to the 1972 campaign continues.

Pittsburgh took a 5-3 lead on Don Keough's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Keough hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Brooklyn pitcher Bob Hill visibly frustrated.

"Dennis really held it together well," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker.
