Los Angeles Defeated By Northmen, 8-0
|
The Twin Cities Northmen downed the Los Angeles Pobladores, 8-0, at Twin Cities Stadium. The Northmen were led by Rick Giardina. Giardina was 2-3 with 2 home runs. The third-place Northmen have won 4 consecutive games.
Carl Jacobs had a big 3-run home run for the Northmen in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Twin Cities leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Novoa and punished it. The result was his 27th home run of the season, which put the Northmen on top, 5-0.
Said losing manager Kurt Peterson: "We need to play with more of an edge."
