Larry Black, who is tied for 6th in the ABL in wins with 17, had a strong outing for the Detroit Wolverines against the Boston Terriers at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-3 win. The winner was Black. He threw 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Miguel Jimenez. The Terriers have now dropped 6 straight.
Pete Morrison, who finished 3rd in the ABL in wins above replacement with 7.2 in 1968, had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With one out and the bases loaded, the Detroit right fielder hit a 2-run single. That put the Wolverines in front, 5-3.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Black.
