The Montreal Habitants took Nate Frampton's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Queens Field. The final score had Montreal getting past the Empires, 8-4, in 10 innings. Frampton over 8.2 innings allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 10. Mel Calef came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 4-4. The win gives Montreal a season record of 87-74.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Don Hill came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing New York pitcher Steve Carroll, he hit a 2-2 cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Montreal on top, 6-4.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Hill.
