The Toronto Hurons converted a terrific effort from starter Mike Beers into a win over the Montreal Habitants at LaSalle Stadium. The Hurons won the game by a final score of 2-0. Beers yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 3-1. Paul Case was credited with the save, his 1st in 1 tries.
Toronto took a 2-0 lead on Emanuel Santiago's 8th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Santiago hit in the top of the ninth, left Montreal pitcher Hervé Lelièvre visibly frustrated.
"Mike gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Toronto skipper Jim Burns.
Toronto is now 75-86, Montreal 84-77.
