Austin Heroics Not Enough in 7-6 Loss to Denver
|
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Tom Austin, the Kansas City Bulls lost to the Denver Burros, 7-6. Austin was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Bill Ragatz converted his 2nd save in 4 tries. With the win, the Burros sit at 85-77.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Brian Cook? The Denver shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Burros on top, 7-0. For the game, Cook had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
