Drillers Fall, 5-2, to Morris, Hawks
The exploits of right fielder Mark Morris, who finished 3rd in the ABL in batting average with .302 in 1972, helped the Chicago Hawks defeat the Houston Drillers, 5-2. Morris was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Angel Villatoro was credited with the save for Chicago, his 13th of the season. The Hawks now have a record of 72-90.

Chicago took a 5-2 lead on Morris's 22nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Ed Myatt in the top of the seventh, propelled Chicago to the win.

"Put the ball in play and good things will happen," said Morris.
