Wolverines Get Clutch Win Versus Boston
The Detroit Wolverines overcame a pretty good performance by Boston catcher Don Bozza, beating the Terriers, 5-4, at Wolverine Field. Bozza was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Detroit reliever Ron Laws picked up the win, upping his record to 12-11. Denny Herold was saddled with the loss. The victory gives Detroit a record of 98-64.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jerry Plumley in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Denny Herold to win the game for Detroit. The home crowd went nuts.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Wolverines," said Plumley.
