Hurons Get 3-0 Win Versus Detroit
|
The Toronto Hurons rode a solid performance from 26-year-old starting pitcher Gary Marshall to a win, beating the Detroit Wolverines, 3-0, at Dominion Field. The winner was Marshall. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Juan Rodriguez. Mike Hanlon wrapped it up, recording his 10th save.
Jim Messer took Detroit hurler Juan Rodriguez deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Hurons on top, 2-0. In all, Messer had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Enjoyed this one," Messer told the Toronto Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Hurons, at 67-95, have now won 4 straight.
