Knickerbockers Win at Home, 9-4
|
The New York Knickerbockers topped the Washington Eagles, 9-4, with second baseman Steve Wright playing a big role. Wright went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Knickerbockers in the win. Washington, at 4-12, is off to a poor start in 1970.
Charlie Fee, who is tied for 4th in the NBL with a .704 slugging percentage, contributed to the New York win with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 6 RBI.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Washington manager Wally Christensen.
