Victors Again, Washington Win Streak at 8
|
The Washington Eagles trumped the Pittsburgh Industrials, 8-4, at Allegheny Field. Washington center fielder Jeff Lawler was terrific. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Industrials fall to 8-9 and continue their wobbly start to the 1976 season.
Dustin Guest, who led the ABL in batting average with .332 in 1970, aided the Washington cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman went 1-4 with a walk.
"Everybody is chipping in right now," said Lawler. "That's what makes it so much fun."
