San Diego and St. Louis put this game in the books despite some rain.

The San Diego Captains buried the St. Louis Explorers, 12-1, under a barrage of hits. Jorge Escobeda led the onslaught, going 2-for-3 for San Diego. Picking up the win was Jeff Ferguson. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The left--hander struck out 2 and walked 2.

With San Diego leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Escobeda hit a fastball from Robbie Goolsby for a 2-run triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put the Captains ahead, 4-1.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said San Diego skipper Joe Mack.

The win takes San Diego to 7-11.
