New York Dealt 2-1 Defeat
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds claimed a close win over the New York Knickerbockers, due in large part to Kevin Wade. The Brooklyn left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. In 7 innings, Wade surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Bob Hill finished to wrap up his 4th save.
In the top of the third inning of a 0-0 tie, Brooklyn right fielder Jackie Cooper reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put Brooklyn on top, 1-0.
Wade said his team "played with focus and determination."
The loss makes the Knickerbockers 6-12.
