In a low-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Pobladores and the Seattle Emeralds, pitcher Jim Arndt was the difference between victory and defeat. The Los Angeles right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Pobladores win. The winning pitcher was Arndt, now 1-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Leon Fairley earned save number 3 this season.

Joe Roberson had a big solo home run for the Pobladores in the bottom of the second inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Pat Burkholder, who finished 4th in the NBL in ERA with 2.18 in 1968, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Pobladores on top, 3-0.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Los Angeles skipper Kurt Peterson.

The loss drops Seattle to 9-8.
