Chicago Absorbs 6-2 Loss to Twin Cities
|
The Twin Cities Northmen downed the Chicago Hawks, 6-2, at Twin Cities Stadium. The Northmen were led by Buddy Shingleton. Shingleton went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Ben Hall. He tossed 108 pitches over 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The Hawks fall to 8-10 and continue their uneven start to the 1973 season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Ed Laub was at the plate when Twin Cities scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Northmen to go in front, 1-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Laub told the Twin Cities Gazette.
