Montreal Beats Toronto, 3-2
|
The Toronto Hurons got a superb performance from pitcher Ron Gordon, but the Montreal Habitants still won the game, 3-2. Gordon threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Montreal, now 11-7, has played well in the early going.
Had Ben Hennie not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Hennie hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Habitants.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Jim Burns.
