Bulls Stun Eagles, 7-5
|
The Kansas City Bulls beat the Washington Eagles, 7-5, at Independence Field. Emilio Cortez starred for Kansas City. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City pitcher Don Callahan got the win. He's now 1-0. Ricky Grill was tagged with the loss. Bob Crosby sewed up the save, his 4th.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Mario Alva came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Washington pitcher Ricky Grill, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Kansas City on top, 7-5.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Alva told the Kansas City News.
The Eagles fall to 6-12 and continue their sputtering start to the 1975 season.
