|
In a low-scoring contest between the Los Angeles Pobladores and the Houston Drillers, Dan Turner was the X factor. The Los Angeles right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. Leon Fairley earned the save for Los Angeles, his 4th of the year. The triumph makes Los Angeles 10-8, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 1973.
Los Angeles used the hitting of Paul McCarthy to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pobladores on top, 3-0. For the game, McCarthy had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
McCarthy told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
