Northmen Rally to Nose Past Chicago
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Twin Cities Northmen and the Chicago Hawks. Twin Cities won it, 2-1. Twin Cities starter Kim Glanden was in command. Twin Cities reliever Rick Lindstrom picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Tim Torda was saddled with the loss. The Hawks fall to 8-11 and continue their rocky start to the 1974 season.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Twin Cities first baseman Miguel Preciado, facing Tim Torda, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Northmen the 2-1 win.
"We busted our tails," said Chicago manager Mike Flaherty. "But we came up short."
