The Atlanta Generals picked up a win at Atlantic Station Field, knocking off the New York Empires, 5-4, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher George Palmer played a key role in the triumph. The loss drops New York to 10-9.
The Generals got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Joe Harrison. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Generals.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Palmer. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
