Captains Top Traders in Extras, 5-4
|
The San Diego Captains walked off with a big win.
The San Diego Captains beat the Chicago Traders, 5-4, at San Diego Sporting Complex. Darrell Conley, who is tied for 4th in the NBL with a 1.038 OPS, starred for San Diego. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3. The winner was Ed Payne in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Bruce Shone took the loss.
The decisive blow was delivered by Bobby Jackson in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 33-year old right-handed pitcher Bruce Shone to win the game for San Diego. The home crowd went nuts.
In postgame comments, Conley said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
Despite the defeat, Chicago still has a fine 13-7 record.
