Blockbusters Fall Short, 4-3, at Kansas City
|
The Kansas City Bulls topped the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 4-3, in National Baseball League action at Independence Field. The standout performance belonged to Kansas City pitcher and Greensboro, North Carolina, native Skip Carter. Carter picked up the win for Kansas City, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. Ron Bargiel recorded the save for Kansas City, his 1st of the season.
Kansas City third baseman Larry Moses contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Bulls ahead, 4-3.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Los Angeles manager John Trausch. "But we decided not to take it."
With the loss, Los Angeles drops to 8-11.
