The Kansas City Bulls started the Divisional Round in style, winning on the road against the Pittsburgh Industrials at Allegheny Field by a score of 4-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Bulls left-hander Skip Carter threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball.
Had Buddy Shingleton not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Shingleton hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Bulls.
Industrials manager Vincent Wicker did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the World Series."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Allegheny Field in Pittsburgh.
