The Detroit Wolverines started the League Championship Series in style today, winning on the road against the Dallas Wranglers at Bluff Park by a score of 13-6 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Wolverines third baseman Duane Simmons excelled. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2.

Detroit grabbed control in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Frank Gentry delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 7-6 in favor of the Wolverines.

"We came out aggressive," said Wolverines manager Alex Wobbema. "We came out swinging the bats."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bluff Park in Dallas.
