Chicago Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in DR
|
The Chicago Traders got a strong performance from pitcher Bobby Peters, who stymied the visiting Cleveland Bobcats en route to a win, 5-1, in Game 3 of the Divisional Round. The Bobcats could never get a bead on the left-handed Peters, who threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The Traders now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Fran Precourt hit a 2-run triple off Ed Payne in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Traders in front, 2-1. Precourt had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
"We lost," Cleveland manager Daniel Mays said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Union Field in Chicago.
