Hurons Net 5-3 Win Over Terriers
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Atlantic Avenue Grounds.
Bill John, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1969 draft, was locked in. The right-hander led the Toronto Hurons to a 5-3 win against the Boston Terriers at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. The winner was John. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Roger Long. Randy Robins sewed up the save, his 1st.
Toronto left fielder Jack Banes helped the Hurons go up, 2-1, in the top of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Banes hit a run-scoring single off Boston pitcher Roger Long.
John called the win "a team effort."
The Hurons, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
