When the games really matter, the Houston Drillers put on their best show, beating the San Francisco Seagulls by a final score of 6-0. Lou Ward hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Houston now leads San Francisco 3-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

There was more than one reason the Drillers beat the Seagulls, but Ward's big at-bat in the bottom of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.

"What we get, we earn," Ward told the Houston Today.
