|
San Francisco starter Ramon Juarez turned in an exceptional performance and got some last-minute help as the Seagulls forced the Divisional Round into a decisive Game 7. The right-handed Juarez threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball in a must-win situation against the Houston Drillers, keeping San Francisco close enough to take the 4-3 victory on a 10th-inning walk-off. The winner of the series will advance to the League Championship Series.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the tenth for San Francisco. That's when 28-year old left fielder Kevin Hooper hit a run-scoring double off Jeff Ferguson to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"We ground out the win," said Hooper. "That's all that matters."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mission Field in San Francisco.
