Industrials Lose to Knickerbockers, 5-1
|
The New York Knickerbockers rode a solid performance from 30-year-old starting pitcher Chris Hull to a win, beating the Pittsburgh Industrials, 5-1, at Allegheny Field. Pittsburgh falls to 11-9.
New York used a clutch at-bat from Bob Underwood to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Knickerbockers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Underwood said.
