Detroit Win Evens Series at 1
The Detroit Wolverines knotted up the League Championship Series at Mission Field, thanks in large part to starter Scott Litwak. Litwak quieted the San Francisco Seagulls, enabling Detroit to grab the 4-0 win and move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.

Detroit used a well-timed hit by Duane Simmons to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"I like what I saw today," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 8th , 1972 at Wolverine Field in Detroit.
