Barroso Blasts Drillers, Seagulls Take Game 1, 7-4
The San Francisco Seagulls started the League Championship Series in style, winning on the road against the Houston Drillers at Sam Houston Field by a score of 7-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Seagulls catcher Jose Barroso excelled. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

San Francisco used a well-timed hit by Scott Wagner to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Seagulls ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Houston manager Tom Harrington.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sam Houston Field in Houston.
