Almost There: Houston On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 5-3 Win
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of third baseman Wade Fields, the Houston Drillers stopped the visiting Pittsburgh Industrials, 5-3, in Game 4 of the World Series. Fields went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Drillers, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.
Fields had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the third for the Drillers. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Houston trailing 2-1, he hit a 3-run home run.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Houston manager Jared Placeholder said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sam Houston Field in Houston.
