Hurons Tack 3-0 Loss on New York
|
The rain did not keep Toronto and New York from finishing their game.
Starting pitcher Dan Crumm gave the Toronto Hurons a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the New York Empires, 3-0, at Queens Field. The winning pitcher was Crumm, now 1-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5.
Toronto used a well-timed hit by Ron Paige to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hurons ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said New York skipper Jose Placeholder, "and it cost us."
The loss puts New York at 11-10.
