Beeler Reaches 2000
|
Detroit's Chris Beeler got the standing ovation -- but the Baltimore Lords got the win.
It was a special day for him at Seton Hill Stadium. A day when Beeler notched hit #2000 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Lords fans applauded.
The Wolverines first baseman went 1-for-3 in a losing cause as Baltimore spoiled the party with the 10-5 victory.
In the postgame interview, a downhearted Beeler told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."
When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 2000-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."
Beeler is hitting .292 during his 1905-game career. He has 2000 hits, 303 doubles, 134 triples, 250 home runs, 1083 RBIs, 48 stolen bases and 992 runs scored.
