Quakers Rally Late to Nip Knickerbockers
|
The Philadelphia Quakers spoiled a good performance by New York pitcher Chris Hull, bumping off New York, 4-3, at Quakers Stadium. Hull threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Sid Shafer earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. New York, with the loss, is 12-9.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Philadelphia pinch hitter Greg Kaminski, facing Brian Williams, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Quakers the 4-3 win.
Kaminski described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
