Empires Deal Wolverines 3-2 Loss
New York starter Larry Stanford pitched well against the Detroit Wolverines at Queens Field. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-2, in 11 innings. Now 15-5, the 1976 Empires have been sensational so far.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the 11th, an error by the Wolverines allowed the Empires to score the winning run.
