Lords Pull Out Late-Game Win, 4-3
|
The Baltimore Lords did just enough to sneak past the Boston Terriers, 4-3, at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. Baltimore pitcher John Fredrick, in particular, had a standout performance. Getting the save was Gilberto Rivera, his 1st. The Terriers, now 7-13, continue their inauspicious start.
Baltimore needed the clutch hitting of John Balliet to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lords on top, 4-3. For the game, Balliet had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Boston manager David Molina. "But we decided not to take it."
