Quakers Improve to 14-6 with 3-1 Win
Mel Hartman was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at Quakers Stadium. In fact, the Philadelphia Quakers right-hander was instrumental in his team's 3-1 victory over the Cincinnati Packers. Bill Kaiser nailed down his 4th save. Philadelphia goes to 14-6 with the win.

The Quakers got a big at-bat from third baseman Joe Voss. For the game, Voss was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Voss told the Philadelphia Observer.
