The Detroit Wolverines defeated the New York Empires, 5-2, in 10 innings in American Baseball League action at Queens Field. Detroit pitcher Scott Litwak had a standout performance. Detroit reliever Darrell Klug was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Danilo Molina. New York, with the loss, is still a stout 15-6.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Booker Lee to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Wolverines on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Litwak.
