The home crowd had a good time watching the New York Empires and Detroit Wolverines get after it.

Pete Morrison was instrumental in his team's 6-3 triumph over the New York Empires. The right fielder was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Detroit Wolverines. New York falls to 14-7.

Detroit took a 4-3 lead on Jerry Plumley's 5th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Plumley hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New York pitcher Pete Ragsdale visibly frustrated.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Plumley told the Detroit Observer.
