Denver beat Cincinnati in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Denver Burros finished off the Cincinnati Packers, 6-2. Much of the credit belonged to shortstop Chuck Carr. Carr belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Burros. Dave Pelton, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 8 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 0. His record now stands at 4-0.

With Denver leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Carr hit a fastball from John Stoddard for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Burros ahead, 4-0.

Said losing manager Martin Abresch: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."

The loss makes the Packers 8-14.
