Knickerbockers Stumble, Lose to Bobcats
Cleveland Bobcats starter Roger Scherf pitched a strong game against the New York Knickerbockers at Lakefront Stadium, leading the Bobcats to victory, 9-4. The Bobcats, now 15-6, have played inspired baseball.

Harold Batkin had a big 2-run home run for the Bobcats in the bottom of the first inning. With Cleveland trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Dave Torre, who finished 5th in the NBL in ERA with 2.19 in 1968, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Bobcats on top, 2-1.

Said New York manager William Bowen: "They just got the better of us."
